Example 1 - Providing Customer Specific Discount Levels

One website that we developed had a requirement for a complex discounting structure. Targetted at trade users, accounts needed to be created that enabled customers to log into the website and for them to be able to view products at their specific discount levels (each customer had different trade terms). An import was developed which enabled the business to populate a spreadsheet with the customers contract terms, specifying the percentage discount against the list price for each manufacture or products included in the website. This was simply imported into the website's database via the administration functionality.

When users logged into the website, they were presented with their own discount terms.

Example 2 - Selling Box Quantities but listing Prices on an Individual Item Basis

A wholesaler customer that we created a website for had the requirement to sell items only in box quantities, however wanted to show the price for an item on an individual basis. A modification was made to the standard database, to include the box quantity into the administration screen. The administrator then simply added the list price for a box of the item, and the box quantity into the administration side of the website, and the website automatically calculated the relevant values, presenting them to the general public.
